Abstract
Sedentary lifestyle is a lifestyle that does not move to much or less, such as sitting, lying down, reading, watching TV, playing mobile phones, etc. Lack of physical activity (sedentary lifestyle) is one of the factors that increase the incidence of obesity. Children who are not active in physical activity need fewer calories, especially to someone who has a tendency to eat high-fat foods and does not do a balanced activity that has a tendency to obesity. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and obesity in adolescent children during the pandemic at Catholic Junior High School Rajawali Makassar. The design of this research is analytic observational by using a cross sectional study approach. The research location was carried out at the Catholic Junior High School Rajawali, Makassar on February 2 to March 18, 2022. The population in this study was the 7th grade students of SMP Rajawali Makassar with a total of 140. Sampling used a non-probability sampling technique with a consecutive sampling approach, obtained 81 respondents according to the criteria inclusion and exclusion. Data collection was done by observation and questionnaires. The data that has been collected is then processed and analyzed test used is chi-square with a significance level of = 0.05 and p = 0.048, this shows p<0.05 means that there is a relationship between a sedentary lifestyle and obesity in adolescent children during the pandemic at the Catholic Junior High School Rajawali in Makassar.
