Abstract
Elderly is a condition that has decreased in carrying out activities or activities independently so that this condition causes the elderly to experience verbal violence in the family. Verbal abuse is violence that is carried out without touching physically, such as cursing, whitening, embarrassing to harsh words. Elderly who experience verbal abuse can have a psychological impact, one of which is depression. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between verbal violence and depression in the elderly in RW 06 Tidung 10 Stella Maris Housing, Makassar City. The sampling technique was analytic observational with a cross sectional study approach on 30 respondents aged 60-72 years. The data collected was analyzed using the Wilcoxon statistical test, the results showed that most experienced high verbal violence and depression, the value of ρ ≥ 0.05 was Rejected and Ho was accepted, meaning that there was no relationship between verbal violence and depression in the elderly in Rw 06 Tidung 10 Housing Stella Maris Makassar.
